At the 23rd Duisburg Inner Harbour Regatta, the dragon boat team from the ZBT - Center for Fuel Cell Technology once again shone with a clean performance. The team spirit strengthened by the joint breakfast in the team camp and the bodies strengthened by the constant supply of isotonic drinks, the "fuel cells" achieved a respectable eighth place out of more than 30 teams in the Fun Cup. We think that's more than respectable and are a little proud. And apart from that, the "fun" in Fun Cup worked, because it was great fun for everyone.
In the ZBT boat was a colorful mix of long-standing and fresh employees, experienced paddlers and dragon boat newcomers - supported and trained by the Wanheimer Kanu-Gilde. The two intensive training sessions with head coach Marion Bröckels on Duisburg's Masurensee paid off on race day.
Because a race day like this is not without its challenges: the three preliminary heats of 250 meters each required concentration, technique and full effort. And the final over 500 meters with a flying start and turnaround demanded everything from the athletes once again. Fortunately, the weather played along: Pleasant temperatures and a steady tailwind provided ideal conditions for the race.
Many thanks to the ZBT crew for their great efforts! And thanks to the Canoe Guild for their support before and during the regatta!
